BIOGRAPHY

Luis Faria, former Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Brown University from 2004-2016, Director of Coaching at Bayside/Lusitana FC, and Head coach for Mount St. Charles Boys Soccer program.

Faria has coached 26 All-Ivy student-athletes during his time with the Bears, beginning in 2004, with those student-athletes totaling 44 All-Ivy awards. He has helped guide Brown to a pair of 10-win seasons during his tenure including a 10-5-2 record in 2011 and a 10-6-1 mark in 2013.

Faria came to Brown after spending six years at Johnson & Wales University, serving as an assistant coach for the women's soccer team from 1998-99, and as the head coach from 2000-03. He guided the team to its first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. While at Johnson & Wales, Faria also served as an admissions officer.

Prior to his time at Johnson & Wales, Faria was an assistant coach for both men's and women's soccer at Bryant College (now Bryant University) from 1995-98. In addition, Faria has coached at Pincince's Soccer School since 1995 and served as a recreation leader for the Rhode Island Department of Corrections from 1994-2001.

A member of the Rhode Island Stingrays from 1995-97, Faria also played semi-pro soccer with the Lusitana Sports of the LASA League from 1984-95. While with the Lusitana Sports, Faria was a two-time Player of the Year and three-time scoring champion in the LASA League.

A 1984 All-American while playing for CCRI, Faria earned an associate degree from CCRI in Business Administration in 1987. In 2000, Faria earned a second associate degree from CCRI in Law Enforcement and Corrections. Most recently, Faria completed a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, graduating from Johnson & Wales in 2010.

Faria, who was inducted into the New England Soccer Hall of Fame in November of 2006, acquired an NSCAA Premiere License in 2008.

He and his wife, Aida, live in Cumberland, R.I., with their daughters, Alexa and Meghan.
